There is a way business and life is...
There is a way it could be...
And there is a way it ought to be.
ARE ETHICS CHANGING IN CHINA?
Dr. Zhao Xiao, a prominent Chinese economist and professor at Beijing University was commissioned by the Chinese government to study the phenomenal success of the American economy in contrast to the moderate success in China. He concluded that a moral foundation, specifically Judeo-Christian values, allowed American economy to flourish, by establishing boundaries on completion and greed. He also observed that the recent global economic collapse of 2008 was directly related to a disregard of our traditional and established values.
Dr. Zhao Xiao, has argued that China's economy would benefit from the spread of faith, and embraced a faith himself. He continues to be a respected scholar and government advisor, speaking openly about the influence of Judea-Christian vales on economics.
Not surprisingly people, competition, and organizations benefit from rules, properly constructed constraints, and communicated values.
A strong culture relies on consistent communication of the company goals, an alignment with the Brand strategy, and an acceptance of a set of defined core values. This needs to be a collaborative and consensual effort within all levels of the organization
The last decade has been witness to organizations that have decided to win at any cost, even if they had to rewrite the rules, look the other way, or compete or act without conscience. We can look at the way business is and accept it without much thought or criticism, or we can ponder the way it could be with a degree of inspiration and optimism. At INVIGOREN we ask our people and our Clients to consider the “ought” in all situations.
So we believe the words in the headline above need little written elaboration, but deserve considerable reflection and conversation.
We believe that no one should curb check their values when going to work.
